Travelling to Gabriola IslandCrimpy Critters Alpaca Farm is situated on the West Coast of Canada on Gabriola Island. Gabriola Island is in the Province of British Columbia. Our neighbouring states in the US are Washington State, and then Idaho and Montana further east. There are various ways to travel to Gabriola Island to visit our farm. First, look at this map showing the areas around Gabriola Island. From Nanaimo, British Columbia: Take the Gabriola Island ferry from the South Nanaimo Gabriola ferry terminal. Turn onto Esplanade from the No. 1 Highway, and Esplanade turns into Front Street. The ferry terminal is here, right behind Port Place Mall. See this map showing south Nanaimo and the Gabriola ferry terminal. From Victoria, British Columbia: Take the No. 1 Highway north and travel the scenic, 1 hour and 45 minute drive up to Nanaimo. Your travel will include breath-taking views from the Malahat, views of the Pacific Ocean, and driving through the small towns of Duncan, Chemainus (don't forget to stop here and see the famous Chemainus murals) and Ladysmith before reaching Nanaimo. Follow the above instructions from Nanaimo. From Vancouver, British Columbia you have four choices:
From Downtown Vancouver, take the Harbour Lynx Ferry to Nanaimo. The Harbour Lynx is a walk on, express ferry service and will take you from downtown Vancouver to downtown Nanaimo in about 1 hour. From Nanaimo Harbour Lynx terminal, it's a short walk to the Gabriola ferry terminal. From West Vancouver, take the Horseshoe Bay ferry to Departure Bay in Naniamo. This is a scenic, 1 hour and 30 minute ferry ride to downtown Nanaimo. Once in Nanaimo, follow the above directions from Nanaimo to Gabriola Island. From south Delta, take the Tsawwassen ferry to Duke Point in Nanaimo. Again, this is about a 1.5 hour scenic ferry ride. Once in Nanaimo, follow the above directions from Nanaimo to Gabriola Island. From the Vancouver Airport, go to the floatplane terminal, 4640 Inglis Drive (near South Terminal) and take the scenic 10 minute flight by Tofino Air to Silva Bay, Gabriola Island. If you are thinking of travelling to our farm, please contact us and we will arrange to meet you at either the Gabriola Ferry Terminal or at the Tofino Air wharf at Silva Bay on Gabriola.
